Children in class 3L will be going swimming on the following dates 7.5.19, 14.5.19, 21.5.19 and 18.6.19. Please make sure your child has a swimming costume (one piece) or swimming trunks, a towel and a swimming cap.
Homework is given out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday. Spellings are given on Friday to take home and tested on the following Friday. It would be really helpful if you could practice the 3, 4 and 8 times tables at home as well as at school. Every child has a TT Rockstars log in which has been sent home.
Reading is very important and we should bring our reading book in to school every day! Try to read for a couple of minutes every night to become a reading superstar. We encourage the children to read for pleasure at every possible moment, we would love to see what books you're reading so please bring them in to show us!
In English, we will be focussing on playscripts and will be using our knowledge of English and drama to delve into the topic. We will also learn how to write a variety of text types and continue to use conjunctions to extend our sentences, adjectives to make our writing more exciting and fronted adverbials for super sentence openers!
This term in Maths, we will be focussing on perimeter before moving onto finding properties of shapes. Then, we will move onto position and direction. We will be solving problems and building on our reasoning skills. We will be continuing to practice our timetables daily and using lots of fun ICT such as RM Maths & TT Rockstars to consolidate our Maths learning.
In Science, our topic is plants and we will be identifying and describing the functions of plants and their parts. We will explore and investigate the things plants need for growth and life, particularly focussing on the life cycles. With the warmer weather coming, we will make use of our on site allotments and plant a variety of fruit and vegetables!
In Geography, we are learning all about the United Kingdom. We will identify and find features of cities, islands, villages and the countryside. Moreover, we will explore physical and human features and compare some of the places we have found using maps.
