what we are doing every day!
PE is on Tuesdays and every other Wednesday. Our PE kit is a school PE kit (which can be purchased at the school office) is a white t-shirt with the school logo, shorts and black pumps. Children should come into school in their full kit on the days that they have PE. Children will receive Dojo's when they have the correct kit in school.
Homework is sent out every Friday and should be returned to school on Monday. It is very important to make sure that homework is returned on time as books need to be quarantined before they are able to be handled and marked. Homework books that are returned on time will earn the children Dojo points!
Learning to read, write and spell is really important in Year 2, so any opportunity to practise at home would be fantastic!
Bring your book bag and reading book in each day and try to read for a few minutes each night to help you become a superstar reader! Reading books will be allocated to each child on a Monday and must be returned to be changed the following Monday.
In English we will be looking at both fiction and non fiction units. We will be studying a range of authors and looking at features of Non Fiction texts. We will focus on including interesting vocabulary in our writing as well as using conjunction words, suffixes and expanded noun phrases.
We will be focusing on number and place value this term. There will be a focus on the four different operations and the children will be working hard to solve problems. We will be developing the children's ability to reason their answers when solving mathematical problems.
This term we are doing Geography. We will be learning about the seven continents and five oceans of the world with our focus being on locating them on a map/ globe and learning key facts about them both. We will be looking at which countries are in each continent and about different levels of the oceans and the wildlife that resides there.
Our Topic this term in 'Animals and Their Habitats'. We will be focusing on learning about different habitats around the world and how certain animals are suited to living in different conditions. We will research both microhabitats and the African Savanna in detail.
