RE is an important part of our school's curriculum
Each class from Year 1 up to Year 6 follow the "SACRE" scheme agreed by Liverpool Local Authority at the same time as linking in with our Learning Challenge Curriculum. Children learn about Christianity through Bible stories, Bible teachings and studying sacraments and their importance to Christians. They also learn about other religions, including Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism, Buddhism and Islam through looking at their teachings and celebrations.
Through teaching Religious Education in our school, we provide opportunities for spiritual development. Children consider and respond to questions concerning the meaning and purpose of
life. We help them to recognise the difference between right and wrong through the study of moral and ethical questions.
We enhance their social development by helping them to build a sense of identity in a multicultural society as part of life in Modern Britain. Children explore issues of religious faith and values and, in so doing, they develop their knowledge and understanding of the cultural context of their own lives.
Links are also made to other subjects in RE such as Literacy, Drama, Art, Music, Geography and Computing.
During the school year, all children will have the opportunity to visit a place of worship, linked in with the topics they will be studying.
